I'm current writing a novel, not really sure where it's going yet...So I figured I would ask people what their favourite books are. I did look around to see if there was another thread on this, but I couldn't find one besides audiobooks/podcasts. So, go. Comment and stuff. My favourite books: The Nick Stone series by Andy McNab. Purely because it's got some totally-deep scenes and military lingo. There's 16 of them currently, so it would take a while to get through them. EDIT: Totally didn't update it with some more stuff. I mean, who would do that?

Apparently they do! I read all sorts of things but generally favour sci-fi and fantasy stuff with some of my favourite authors being Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Douglas Coupland and Douglas Adams. One of my recent favourites is John Dies at the End by David Wong which blends horror and comedy pretty well.

I just read through this and it looks like a promising concept. It will be interesting to see where you take it from where it left off. Just to point out; in chapter one the first block of text switches from the first person to the third person which needs to be changed so it's consistent throughout.

Realised that after I re-read it. I'll be editing it and continuing with it tomorrow, so yeah.

Just read the introduction (can't read the whole chapter right now) and it's interesting. However, your protagonist has one dangerous detail: he is intelligent. Nothing against intelligent protagonists, in fact I prefer when they are intelligent (like in Death Note and G-Senjou no Maou). Problem is, that trait is an double-edged sword. If you are not careful, you will not be able to do it right. He will either seem too dumb to be called intelligent or too intelligent to be realistic. Or you might not give him situations to prove his intelligence, and leave the reader wondering why the hell you said he was intelligent in the first place... And the author himself (you) need to have some brain power to match his (your) main character. (Not saying your are not intelligent, for all I know, you could be the wisest men on Earth) So if you are confident, go ahead and good luck. Otherwise, you should reconsider.

I'm planning for something to happen that will change that. So... Yeah.
